While attending Iowa State University, I studied Graphic Design in Rome, Italy. As a way to get the students out into the community, our professors assigned each student a certain region (or rione) of Rome to explore and study. We did in-depth research and studies into the community and learned all we could about the history of the people who live there. We then created a business that met the unique needs of that community and designed a brand identity for that business. I was assigned the Celio region of Rome, a quiet area of the city right outside the major tourist areas. I created a restaurant that brought a high-end dining and night-life atmosphere to Celio called, Piatto del Celio. Below are excerpts from the brand manual:
